Pre-Departure Orientation

International Affairs hosts a general Pre-Departure Orientation each semester prior to students departing for their education abroad destinations. Participation in the Pre-Departure Orientation is a mandatory requirement of studying abroad. Students, guardians, staff and faculty are all encouraged and welcome to attend these informative orientations. Inquire at international@uccs.edu for upcoming pre-departure sessions.

These Pre-Departure Orientation sessions are here to make sure you are prepared for your experience abroad. Topics covered include:

• Registration/Academics
• Travel, Packing, and Logistics
• Communication Abroad
• Health and Safety
• Culture, Culture Shock and Re-Entry

The Pre-Departure Orientation is usually held in the first part of December (for Spring education abroad students) and the first part of May (for Summer, Fall, and Academic Year students). International Affairs will inform students of the exact day and time after their acceptance.
