Pre-Departure Orientation

Pre-Departure Orientation

International Affairs provides a general Pre-Departure Orientation each semester prior to students departing for their education abroad destinations. Participation in the Pre-Departure Orientation is a mandatory requirement of studying abroad. Students, guardians, staff and faculty are all encouraged and welcome to complete and/or attend these informative orientations.

Pre-Departure Orientation is here to make sure you are prepared for your experience abroad. Topics covered include:

  • Registration/Academics
  • Travel, Packing, and Logistics
  • Communication Abroad
  • Health and Safety
  • Culture, Culture Shock and Re-Entry

The Pre-Departure Orientation can be completed via a course in Canvas or in person session. In person sessions are available on a 1 on 1 basis by request. Traditionally the Pre-Departure course will appear in a student's Canvas dashboard approximately 2 months prior to departure (or sooner).

See ourPre-Departure Guide    for more information.
