Prospective Exchange Students

Thank you for your interest in applying to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) as an exchange student. We are very excited to know you are interested in attending UCCS. Each year we host many exchange students from our international partner institutions around the world.

If you would like to attend UCCS for one semester or academic year, review the following information before submitting an application.

1. OFFICIAL NOMINATION

You must be nominated as an exchange student before you are eligible to apply. Contact your international office to determine if an exchange partnership exists between your home institution and UCCS.

Once we have received and accepted your nomination, we will notify you of your next steps.

 

2. PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

 * Exchange students please complete the above application based on your level of study. Please note that your home school needs to send official nomination to international@uccs.edu.

The following documents must be submitted as part of the application:

  • Copy of Passport Personal Information Page
  • Academic Transcripts (translated into English)
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency
  • Financial Guarantee
  • Insurance Compliance Form
  • List of Preferred Courses

At the time of application submission, all documentation should be e-mailed to iss@uccs.edu. 

 

3. UNDERSTAND EXCHANGE COSTS & HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

As an exchange student at UCCS you do not pay tuition. However, you are responsible for housing and other expenses. Here is an estimated cost of attendance at UCCS:

*Students in J-1 status are required by U.S. regulations to carry adequate health insurance. See information below.

 

Health Insurance

U.S. government regulations (22 CFR S62.14) require that all international students, scholars, and professors in J-1 status (as well as dependents) be enrolled in an approved insurance plan that includes comprehensive medical insurance with evacuation and repatriation coverages, and meets the minimum coverage limits for J-1 status exchange visitors as outlined here. Coverage on such a plan is required at all times while in the U.S. in J-1 status, beginning on the start date of the J-1 program continuing to the end of the J-1 program. There cannot be any breaks or lapses in coverage at any time, regardless of travel out of the U.S. during this time.
